Broadband
SENDD has been a statewide leader in grassroots broadband development for many years. To better understand the state’s broadband capacity, the SENDD in partnership with the Nebraska Regional Officials Council (NROC) launched a crowdsourced statewide broadband speed mapping initiative. As broadband has become an increasingly important part of life, creating an affordable and accessible statewide network is critical for growth. COVID-19 and pandemic living conditions further intensified this.
Community Development
SENDD is committed to supporting the development of our member communities by providing technical assistance across various community development needs. We focus on improving the quality of life within our service area through assistance with seeking funding sources for water and wastewater improvements, senior centers, community centers, recreational facilities, street and drainage improvements, community planning, downtown revitalization, and other essential community facilities.
Disaster Recovery
Disasters can be the result of natural, manmade, and/or economic events, and their severity may impact a community or a region for years. Business owners, elected officials, and residents alike can take steps to mitigate the effects of these occurrences. SENDD can assist in these efforts by 1) Evaluating and assessing the vulnerability of existing infrastructure; 2) Assisting local businesses and industry, agriculture, and workforce affected by the natural disaster; and 3) Helping build local and regional partnerships for a stronger economy.
Economic Development
SENDD has a dedicated staff, with over 30 combined years of economic development–related experience, to assist communities and businesses with their economic development and financial assistance needs.
Housing
SENDD provides technical assistance and program management services to member communities and counties to help address a variety of affordable housing needs, including housing market studies, new construction programs, rental housing, housing rehabilitation programs, mortgage and home rehabilitation loan programs, and downpayment assistance programs, among others.
