What We Do

Community Development

SENDD is committed to supporting the development of our member communities by providing technical assistance across various community development needs. We focus on improving the quality of life within our service area through assistance with seeking funding sources for water and wastewater improvements, senior centers, community centers, recreational facilities, street and drainage improvements, community planning, downtown revitalization, and other essential community facilities.

  • Services Community DevelopmentGrant Writing and Administration
SENDD’s CD Staff are ready to assist communities in identifying programs that fit their project needs and provide support in grant writing. There is no fee for basic grant writing for SENDD members. However, if writing exceeds 30 hours, an additional fee may apply. SENDD may assist with grant administration and will be determined per funding source. For a current list of grant resources, click the Grant List button above. To inquire about grant writing/administrative assistance, click the Project Intake button above.
  • Household Income Studies
Some grant programs, such as the Community Development Block Grant, require communities to meet specific income percentage criteria. If their percentage is close to the requirement, the community may request a CD to Specialist conduct an income survey and assist with distribution. Staff will work with communities to ensure the targeted number of responses are collected, ensuring there is enough data to calculate the income percentage. To inquire about income survey assistance, click the Project Intake button above.
  • Community Needs Assessment
Along the same lines of the income studies, there are some programs that require citizen participation to identify the proposed project as a priority. Communities (pending the type of project) can request a CD Specialist conduct a Community Needs Assessment and assist with distribution. Assessments can be targeted to fit your community’s specific needs including housing, economic development, tourism and recreation, childcare, public infrastructure, public facilities, etc.
  • Project Specific Environmental Review
Depending on the identified grant resource, a specific environmental review may be required. SENDD staff can assist with preparing the environmental review and may require the community to enter into a special services contract for a small fee.
